Introduction to Coding with PictoBlox Jr
PRIMARY 1 & 2 • AGES 6–8 • BLOCK-BASED CODING
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course introduces young learners to the fundamentals of programming using PictoBlox Jr, a beginner-friendly, block-based coding platform designed to help children understand how computers follow instructions. Students will learn core coding concepts such as commands, sequencing, and simple events while creating animations and interactive scenes.
Through fun, hands-on activities and guided mini-projects, learners will explore how to control characters, trigger actions, and build simple stories. By the end of the course, students will be able to create basic interactive projects and develop an early understanding of computational thinking.

This module introduces young learners to the basics of coding using PictoBlox Jr, a child-friendly, block-based programming environment. Students will explore how computers follow instructions by using simple commands, movements, and speech actions. Through fun, hands-on activities and guided practice, learners will create animations by sequencing blocks to control characters on the screen. The module concludes with a mini project, where students design a character that moves and introduces itself, building confidence in their first coding experience.
This module builds on basic coding skills by helping learners explore characters, backgrounds, events, and simple storytelling using PictoBlox Jr. Students will learn how to add multiple sprites, change scenes, and make characters interact with one another. Through guided activities, learners will organize actions into a clear beginning, middle, and end, laying the foundation for digital storytelling. The module concludes with a creative project, where students design a short animated story featuring multiple characters working together.
